Carson Newman Communications

I spent some time this afternoon talking with Dr. Borchert's class at Carson Newman College on the topic of blogging. The assignment at the end of class was for each student to create their own blog and begin posting to it. Before the class was over many students had already setup their blogs and was working on their first post. There were also a few entrepreneurs who were already linking their blogs to Google Adsense to start working towards making a few dollars with their work.

It is exciting to see the enthusiasm of the students. I cannot wait to see some of their work and I hope to be able to share that with you as well.

We have an exciting generation in our schools today!

  1. hey Doug! I had a question about my blog! When posting a comment, how do I set it up so anyone can post one? Rather than the person having to have a google, livejournal, wordpress, etc.? Thanks for the help!

  2. Hi Christian! Thanks for the question. To enable comments for everyone go into your dashboard and choose Settings|Comments. In this new screen you should see a comments section. Make sure the "Show" radio button is selected. This will enable other options on the page. One of those options is "Who Can Comment?" Make sure that "Anyone" is selected. This will anyone to be able to comment (with or without) a Google ID. For instance, on my blog you will see a Comment As section beneath the comment reply text box. In this drop-down menu, one of the options should be Anonymous. Let me know if you have trouble or any more questions..

    Thanks,
    Doug

  3. Great session, Doug! I'm very excited to see what our students will do after hearing your ideas. Thanks for being a great guest lecturer. I am always inspired by your ideas, as are our students. Thanks for your time, talents, and interest.

  4. Hey Doug! I have another question about blogs. Whenever I post the link to my blog, which I renamed 'Footprints in the Sand', it always shows up as 'Scriptures for the Soul', which was the original name I had chosen but then changed it. Is there a way to get Facebook to put up the new name instead of the old one? Thanks!
